Pets on The Promenade

Last Saturday turned out to be the perfect day for Pets on the Promenade in Bluffton, South Carolina because it was a bit overcast and thus not too hot to have the cats and dogs outside.

This annual event aims at promoting adoption of homeless pets and it worked: 8 dogs went home with their new family!!

"Ruff life"!
Love that shot
Many local animal shelters and rescue groups were present, along with main sponsor Hilton Head Monthly and pet-friendly vendors to help raise funds for the Hilton Head Humane Association and Palmetto Animal League.

Making sure the gelato is ready!

Pino Gelato set up its portable shop on the promenade to offer gelato and sorbetto for donations . It turns out not only humans but also dogs love a cold treat!

"Lemon" enjoyed some Limoncello sorbetto

Local author Julie Chalpan
Add some live music by the Beagles, covering songs from the Beatles, a silent auction full of great items and gift certificates, "Titan's Tale" book signing by local author Julie Chalpan and that's all you need for an afternoon of fun and relaxing time!

Already looking forward to next year's Pets on The Promenade... woof!

"Dear John...

It's now three weeks ago that we left Hilton Head after having a great time in the USA.
It is good to be home again, but we're missing the sunny weather and of course your ice cream.
The children are back to school and Thomas and I are doing the things we used to do, he is busy with his business and I am taking care of my house-hold and our social life.
We promised you before leaving that we would send you a picture of the kids in the T-shirts you gave them.
We wish you all the best and maybe we will meet again.

Warm greetings
Carien, Thomas, Philine, Isabel and Steijn Raben

Thanks a lot to the Raben family for sending us the picture and note from Holland!!
Hope to see you soon!

Pino Gelato visits Cincinnati, Ohio

Last weekend, Dominic Leong attended the 22nd edition of "A Gourmet Sensation" in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since 1974, this prestigious event has gathered talented chefs from all around the country every year for a special evening to benefit the Hospice of Cincinnati.
This year, approximately 1,200 guests attended and enjoyed the various delicacies prepared by 23 chefs from Texas to South Carolina!

Ron and Carol Harris
Licensees Ron and Carol Harris from Pino Gelato Bistro in Dublin, Ohio, joined Dominic to show what we can do with gelato and sorbetto.

Let's starts with "Crespelle" or Italian crepes....

Crespelle with fresh berries, topped with whipped cream and mixberry gelato

Love coffee? The "Affogato" is your drink! It literally means drowning gelato in espresso. Add some whipped cream and chocolate sauce and enjoy!

Or if you prefer something stronger, we suggest pouring a shot of coffee liquor over vanilla bean gelato or vodka on top of lemon sorbetto.

Email us at pinogelato@gmail.com for recipes

Molti crespelle!
From 6 am until 11:30am, Dominic made more than 300 crespelle.
And guess how long it took the guests to eat them all?
One hour and a half!

The line never stopped from 7:30pm until 10:50pm, which may explain why we were invited to come back next year!

Great job Dominic, Carol and Ron!
